I've spent over 20 years in beauty. What started as a passion for the craft grew into something I never could have fully predicted: a career, a business, a community, and a deeper understanding of just how transformative this work truly is.

For 16+ years I've worked as a licensed cosmetologist, and for the last 8+ years I've specialized as a curl specialist — becoming a trusted guide for women learning to understand, embrace, and celebrate their natural texture. There is something incredibly sacred about helping a woman see her hair — really see it — and fall in love with it. That never gets old.

But my journey didn't stop behind the chair.

Eight and a half years ago I took a leap and opened my own salon. I became a business owner, an employer, a trainer, and an educator — all at once. For 7+ years I poured myself into building not just a business but a culture. I developed teams, mentored stylists, created systems, and learned everything through first hand experience. The kind of lessons that only come from being in it — from the hard days, the breakthroughs, the growth, and the grind.

And then something remarkable happened.

That salon — the one I built from nothing — reached a point where it no longer needed me to survive. It became self-sustaining. Fully operational. Running beautifully on its own, huge thanks to my team! For an entrepreneur, there is no greater proof of concept than building something that outlives your daily presence in it. That moment gave me the freedom and the confirmation to ask myself: what's next?
